Client Testimonials

ZH

Zulkifli Hamdan

Managing Director, Petaling Jaya

"We brought Khazanah Group in to look at a possible expansion into Vietnam and Thailand. The reading they produced was frank about the difficulties — probably more frank than we expected — but that frankness is precisely what we needed. We ended up deferring one market and accelerating the other. I think that was the right call."

Siti Ramlah

CEO, Kuala Lumpur

"The talent strategy engagement was well structured. Noor Liana led it personally throughout, and the final document gave our HR director and me a concrete starting point for a conversation we had been putting off for two years. The market mapping in particular was more granular than I expected."

Wong Keng Fatt

Group Chairman, Shah Alam

"We are a group with six operating companies, and for several years the board had not been having the capital allocation conversation as systematically as we should. The six-month engagement with Ahmad Rizal gave us both a framework and a discipline. The monthly sessions became a standing item on my calendar."

Rajes Iyer

Executive Director, Subang Jaya

"The value of working with a practice this small is that there is no dilution. When David Tan told us he would be leading the engagement personally, that is exactly what happened. He was present at every session. The analysis he produced was direct and took a clear position. We found it useful precisely because it was not trying to be all things."

Faridah Nordin

Chief Operating Officer, Kuala Lumpur

"What I appreciated most was that the Market Entry Reading did not pretend certainty where there was none. It set out the conditions under which entry would make sense, and the conditions under which it would not. That kind of structured framing gave our leadership team a much better basis for the discussion than a slide deck would have."

ASEAN Market Entry Reading

TL

Tan Lay Hwa

Head of HR, Bangsar South

"The talent engagement surfaced two things we had not articulated clearly before: where our employer brand was genuinely strong and where it was falling short relative to comparable firms in the market. Noor Liana brought a depth of market knowledge that would have taken us considerably longer to assemble on our own."

Case Studies

The following case studies are illustrative of engagements we have conducted. Client names and identifying details have been changed to preserve confidentiality.

Case Study 01 · ASEAN Market Entry

A Malaysian logistics firm evaluating entry into Indonesia

Challenge

A mid-sized Malaysian logistics business had received informal market signals suggesting demand for its specialised service in the Indonesian market. The board was considering a direct entry but lacked a structured view of whether the demand was comparable to what the firm served in Malaysia, or whether the regulatory and partner environment was workable.

Solution

Over four weeks, Khazanah Group conducted a structured assessment of the Indonesian logistics market for the firm's specific service type, reviewed the regulatory licensing requirements, mapped the available local partner landscape, and led a workshop with the leadership team to work through the practical considerations. A written reading was delivered at the engagement's conclusion.

Outcome

The reading supported entry in principle but recommended a particular entry structure — a partnership arrangement rather than a direct subsidiary — and identified a specific regulatory consideration the firm had not previously been aware of. Entry proceeded on the advised basis twelve months later. The regulatory issue, had it not been addressed, would have caused a significant delay.

"The reading gave us a cleaner picture than we would have been able to form independently. The regulatory finding alone was worth considerably more than the engagement fee." — Managing Director

Case Study 02 · Senior Talent Strategy

A professional services firm with a persistent senior vacancy challenge

Challenge

A Klang Valley professional services firm had been unable to fill two senior positions for over eighteen months. The firm had worked with executive search firms without success and was beginning to consider whether its positioning as an employer — particularly relative to larger regional firms — was the underlying issue.

Solution

Over ten weeks, Khazanah Group worked with the CEO and the Head of HR to map the firm's current senior bench, assess the realistic talent pool for the two open roles, and conduct a structured comparison of the firm's employer positioning against four comparable firms in the market. The deliverable was a written strategy and a prioritised action set.

Outcome

The strategy identified that the firm's remuneration positioning was not the primary issue — it was competitive. The problem lay in how the firm communicated career development and seniority trajectory to candidates. Two of the recommended actions were implemented within three months of delivery; one of the two positions was filled within five months.

"We had been assuming it was a compensation problem. The analysis showed it was not. That reframing changed our entire approach to the search." — CEO
