Questions We Are Often Asked

How do I know whether my firm is the right fit for one of your engagements?
Each engagement page sets out the kind of organisation it is suited to — by size, sector and the nature of the challenge. The Group Strategy engagement, for example, is designed for diversified groups with consolidated revenues above RM 200 million. If you are uncertain, a short introductory call will usually clarify matters quickly.
What does a "written reading" look like in practice?
A written reading is a structured document — typically eight to twenty pages — that sets out our considered view on the question at the heart of the engagement. It is meant to be read carefully, questioned, and discussed. It is not a slide deck or an executive summary. We take the form seriously because we believe that a clearly written argument is a more honest test of the quality of the thinking.
Are your fees fixed, or do they vary with scope?
The fees listed on our Solutions page are fixed for the engagement as described. If the nature of your situation requires a different scope, we will discuss that with you before any agreement is reached. We do not expand scope without a clear prior conversation.
How is the engagement conducted — in person or remotely?
Our office is in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur. For clients based in the Klang Valley, working sessions are typically held in person. For clients based elsewhere in Malaysia or ASEAN, we combine in-person visits at meaningful points with remote conversations in between.
How is client information handled?
All information shared by a client in the course of an engagement is held in strict confidence. We do not discuss client matters with third parties and we do not reference client relationships in our communications without explicit permission.
What is the usual starting point for a new engagement?
Most engagements begin with a short introductory conversation — typically thirty minutes — in which we understand the situation and you understand our approach. If both parties feel it is a sensible fit, we agree on a scope and begin within two to three weeks.
