About Khazanah Group
Khazanah Group was founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2011 by a small team of former corporate directors and sector advisers who had spent the preceding decade working within Malaysian and regional businesses. The founders shared a common observation: that many established firms in the Klang Valley and the wider peninsula were making significant decisions — on market entry, on senior hiring, on the composition of their business portfolios — with less structured outside counsel than those decisions warranted.
The practice was set up to address that gap directly, without the institutional trappings of the large consulting firms. From the outset, Khazanah Group has operated as a small practice: a limited number of active engagements at any one time, each led personally by a senior adviser rather than managed through a project team.
Our clients are typically established companies — often family-owned or founder-led — who have reached a point where the questions they are working through are too consequential to be left entirely to internal deliberation. They are not looking for a firm to run a process on their behalf. They are looking for a thoughtful counterpart: someone who will listen carefully, read the situation honestly, and offer a considered view.
That is the work we do. We do not accept engagements where we cannot offer genuine senior attention, and we do not offer opinions we have not earned through careful preparation. Our written deliverables are composed with care and intended to be read as working documents by the leadership teams who receive them.

Standards We Hold Ourselves To
Complete Confidentiality
Client matters are held in strict confidence at all times. We do not reference client relationships in external communications without written permission.
Senior Attention Throughout
Every engagement is led by a named principal from our team. Work is not passed to junior staff. The adviser you agree to work with stays with you through the full engagement.
Written Deliverables
Our engagements produce written readings with clear, considered positions — not slide decks or bullet-point summaries. The writing is a substantive part of the work.
Honest Scope Definition
Engagement scope is agreed in writing before commencement. Fees are fixed for the stated scope. We do not allow scope to expand without a prior conversation and revised agreement.
Membership, MIM
Members of the Malaysian Institute of Management. Our advisers hold current professional memberships in management and strategy disciplines applicable to their areas of practice.
Conflict of Interest Policy
We do not accept engagements from direct commercial competitors of current clients. Any potential conflict is disclosed before an engagement begins and resolved by mutual agreement.
Our Approach to Advisory Work
Business advisory in Malaysia operates in a particular commercial environment. The country's corporate landscape is shaped by a mix of family-owned conglomerates, government-linked companies, and a growing number of founder-led firms navigating the shift from first to second-generation leadership. The ASEAN dimension adds further complexity — different regulatory tempos, distinct talent pools, and commercial relationships that often require patient cultivation over a number of years.
Khazanah Group's advisers have worked within this environment for their entire careers. Our approach draws on that direct experience rather than on frameworks developed elsewhere and applied here without adaptation. When we assess the feasibility of an ASEAN market entry, for example, we are drawing on real familiarity with the relevant regulatory bodies, talent conditions and partner networks — not on secondary research alone.
We work with a small number of clients at any one time. This is not incidental — it is central to the quality we are able to maintain. Senior attention is a finite resource, and we do not offer it at a scale that would require it to be diluted. If we are not the right fit for a particular engagement, we will say so.
Our base in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, places us at the centre of the Klang Valley's commercial life, with ready access to clients across the Kuala Lumpur city centre, Petaling Jaya and the broader Selangor corridor. For clients based elsewhere in Malaysia or across the ASEAN region, we maintain a regular travel schedule and supplement in-person work with structured remote sessions.
